Beermen absorb second straight defeat

San Miguel bowed to the streaking TNT Tropang Giga, 107-88, in the 2020 PBA Philippine Cup restart, Friday at the Angeles University Foundation Sports Arena and Cultural Center in Angeles City, Pampanga.

The Beermen, still smarting from a close defeat at the hands of the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters last Tuesday, started slow once more and were never in the game. The defending champs trailed by as much as 22 and had no answer for big man Poy Erram who led the Tropang Giga with 25 points along with 15 boards.

To make things worse, Terrence Romeo exited the game in the second quarter after a hard collision with Ryan Reyes which resulted in a dislocated shoulder. He was immediately rushed to Medical City Clark for examination.

Alex Cabagnot paced the Beermen with 15 points while Marcio Lassiter added 14. Chris Ross contributed 13 while Arwind Santos finished with a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Mo Tautuaa stuggled with early foul trouble and could only muster 9 points and 5 rebounds. He also committed a team-high 6 turnovers.

San Miguel takes a two-day break before taking on Terra Firma Dyip on Monday, October 19.
