Beermen deeply concerned with Terrence Romeo’s latest injury

San Miguel super scorer Terrence Romeo has suffered another setback – another injury that had him exit early towards the locker room during the San Miguel – Phoenix Super LPG PBA Philippine Cup game at the Don Honorio Ventura State University gym, Friday afternoon. And coach Leo Austria could not hide his concern.

Austria admitted that he has yet to be informed about the extent of his star guard’s injury and believes it will greatly affect their team’s bid to book a twice-to-beat advantage in the playoffs.

“Ia-assess pa namin with our PT and nakita ko lang tine-tape. We don’t want to aggravate it and kailangan patingnan muna namin kung anong klaseng injury yun,” said the 8-time PBA champion mentor.

SMB resident physical therapist Edward Bacason shared that Romeo hurt his right Achilles tendon. Though there’s still pain whenever the 5-time PBA All Star walks, he was not brought to the hospital. Bacason also added that they will still assess Romeo’s injury in the coming days to fully know the extent of this newest setback.

Coach Leo Austria is hoping that the injury is not as serious as compared to the hyperextended knee Romeo suffered early in the conference, that made the guard from FEU miss some of the Beermen’s games.

“Terrence naman is a hardworker. I don’t know yet but I’m sure he wants to play dahil pinag-handaan niya ng husto itong tournament na ito. And kung ma-injured na naman siya, hindi maganda para sa amin yun dahil alam naman natin na right now, before this game, he’s one of the top scorers ng liga”, explained the 63-year native of Sariaya, Quezon.

The Beermen are currently mired in 4th place with a 6-3 win loss record.
