Beermen enlist Diamond Stone as replacement import

San Miguel import Thomas Robinson has been placed on the injured list just a day before the team opens its campaign in the PBA Season 47 Commissioner’s Cup.

According to sources, Robinson has been complaining of recurring back spasms since late last week.

“Mahirap, baka pabalik-balik iyun kaya nagpakuha na kami ng replacement,” said the source.

The decision to relegate Robinson to the injured/reserved list means that the newly crowned Philippine Cup champions can reinstate him anytime within the ongoing conference.

Taking his place is Diamond Stone, a 25-year old American who played for the Meralco Bolts along with Allen Durham during the FIBA Asia Champions Cup in 2018.

Stone, the 40th overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, saw action for the Los Angeles Clippers before making several stops in the G League. He last played for the TaiwanBeer Herobears in the T1 League and averaged 27.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game.

“He is the best available option in such a short period of time,” added the source who bared that Stone is set to arrive on Tuesday night.
