Beermen extend unbeaten run to five games
San Miguel simply refused to lose and rolled to their 5th win in 5 starts by whipping Meralco, 94-86, Thursday night in the PBA Season 47 Governors’ Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
The Beermen remained as one of only two unbeaten teams, along with sister team Brgy. Ginebra, in the elimination round of the season-ending conference while the Bolts absorbed their 2nd defeat in 5 outings.

“Cam is a big, big factor in this 5-0 start. He’s doing a great job. Hats off to him and the players, all of them are playing hard,” said SMB head coach Jorge Gallent during the post-game presser.
“This 5-0, the credit is all to the players. They are really doing a good job of listening and learning, especially listening to the defensive and offensive schemes of the team,” he added.
CJ Perez tallied 19 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals while Jericho Cruz and June Mar Fajardo chipped in 13 and 11 markers, respectively with the latter also contributing a game-high 14 rebounds.
Chris Newsome and KJ McDaniels paced the Bolts with 18 points each while Allein Maliksi scored 16.
The Beermen will have a day off before gunning for win number 6 on Saturday, February 11, 6:45pm against Converge at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
