Boatwright ready to close out Magnolia in Game 6

Bennie Boatwright is gearing up for a challenging showdown as San Miguel aims to close out Magnolia in the PBA Season 48 Commissioner’s Cup Finals on Wednesday.

Following a close call in their 108-98 win in Game 5, Boatwright is well aware of the need for the Beermen to be fully prepared for whatever their opponents bring to the table on Valentine’s Day at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

“We expect it to be a tough game” said Boatwright of Game 6. “We’ll go out there and be ready.”

The game saw San Miguel narrowly escape a late scare from the Hotshots, who managed to cut back from a 14-point deficit in the final six minutes, threatening at 99-96 with just 74 seconds remaining.

Thanks to Jericho Cruz’s heroics, San Miguel thwarted a potential collapse and secured victory with a decisive 9-2 run towards the end of the game.

Boatwright himself contributed significantly with 21 points, six rebounds, and four assists, bouncing back from his lowest output of 16 points during San Miguel’s previous loss in Game 4.

As they stand on the brink of clinching his first PBA championship and San Miguel’s 29th overall, Boatwright is hopeful that fans will rally behind them as they strive for this historic achievement.

“We love all the fans, they gave us a lot of energy out there. I definitely feel about them (when) playing. It’s exciting going out there and playing.”
