CJ Perez on rumored trade to SMB: “Tingin ko hindi naman totoo”

CJ Perez has been the trending topic on social media lately not because of the 2018 top overall pick’s phenomenal performance in his rookie season which saw him top the league in scoring with an average of 20.8 points per outing but due to persistent rumors that he is on his way via trade to the San Miguel Beermen.
The 26-year old Perez, however, isn’t paying attention to the trade talks and doesn’t really believe any of it.
“Ako naman, basta ginagawa ko lang yung tama sa team. Kung totoo man yung mga rumors, sa tingin ko hindi naman,” said Perez shortly after Columbian escaped Magnolia, 101-100, in a tune-up game Thursday at the Ronac Art Center.
Aside from posting the highest scoring average the past season, the former Lyceum of the Philippines University Pirate contributed 7.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.9 steals per game to the Dyip.
The Hong Kong-born cager, who is a cinch to win the Rookie of the Year award, is prepared nonetheless for any eventuality.
“Kung mangyayari man yun, siyempre ganun talaga ang basketball. Hindi naman natin mase-secure kung saan tayo mapupunta,” he said.
