Contracts of Arwind Santos, Alex Cabagnot set to expire on August 31
San Miguel veterans Arwind Santos and Alex Cabagnot will see their contracts expire at the stroke of midnight, August 31.
With the fate of the league still uncertain at this point in time due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the forthcoming deals for the duo is still up in the air.
The Beermen last saw action in the featured game of the Season 45 opener last March 8 and won over the Magnolia Hotshots to the tune of 94-78. Big man Mo Tautuaa led the defending champions who played without June Mar Fajardo with 20 points while Terrence Romeo added 19. Santos, Marcio Lassiter and Cabagnot chipped in 18, 17 and 10 markers, respectively.
The league is currently awaiting the reply of the IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases) regarding the Board-approved health protocols it submitted to the government body, which it plans to implement once it is given the go signal to finally resume team practices.
Players with expired contracts are given five days after the resumption of practices to sign new deals, otherwise they become unrestricted free agents.
