June Mar Fajado raises ₱4,800 in first game of personal charity project for late mom

June Mar Fajardo managed to raise ₱4,800 in donation money after San Miguel’s 108-100 win over the Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters, Wednesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The PBA’s only 6-time Most Valuable Player awardee earlier pledged to donate ₱200 for every point he scores during the Season 47 Philippine Cup with the proceeds going to a charity of his choice.
To sweeten the pot, ₱1,000 will be added for every three-pointer he drains while the amount of ₱100,000 will be donated if the Beermen reach the championship round.
The 6-foot-10 native of Pinamungajan, Cebu is dedicating the donation drive to his mother, Maritess, who passed away August last year.
“Para sa mama ko ‘yun,” said Fajardo after dropping 24 points in the season-opener.
The proud and self-proclaimed “mama’s boy” has always dedicated his awards to his parents. Moments after he received his 5th MVP plum in 2019, Fajardo called both of them to the stage and offered the award to them.
“Pag-usapan pa namin kung sino ang beneficiary,” said Fajardo of his pet project which is being held in coordination with the league.
