Leo Austria believes Terrence Romeo will regain ‘old form’ during semis clash with TNT

San Miguel’s multi-titled coach Leo Austria thinks leading-scorer Terrence Romeo will regain his old shape during the team’s semifinals matchup against league-leading TNT.
The 3-time PBA scoring champion returned to action on Thursday and helped the Beermen advance to their first semifinals appearance since the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup. He finished the game with 11 points on 4-of-12 shooting to go along with 4 rebounds and 2 assists.
“I’m happy he was able to play today for him to be accustomed again to what kind of system we’re running,” said the 63-year-old tactician.
“I’m sure in the next few days, if he will be given some time to practice, he will be back to his old form.” he added.
Romeo, the 5th overall pick of the 2013 PBA Draft, left the Pampanga semi-bubble last week to determine the extent of his achilles injury which he suffered during the 27-time PBA shamps’ game against Phoenix Super LPG.
The 2013 UAAP Most Valuable Player led the league in scoring during the elimination round with 19 points per game on 47% shooting from the field.
“He’s still struggling, but it’s a good relief para dito sa mga point guard namin. Before they arrived, it’s hard for Chris Ross to play 38 minutes all the way, because there’s a lot of teams with a lot of good defenders,” said the four-time PBA Coach of the Year.
Austria is thrilled that they will head into their best-of-seven semis clash against a determined Tropang Giga side in full-strength.
“I know if they will be given some time to practice with the team, I think makukuha nila ‘yun.”
