PBA mulling sanctions on four San Miguel players involved in practice brawl

PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial is looking to impose sanctions on 4 San Miguel players, namely Arwind Santos, Ronald Tubid , Kelly Nabong and Dez Wells, for their roles in a brawl which reportedly happened during the team’s practice, Sunday at the Upper Deck gym in Pasig City.

Marcial said that the 4 players involved could face fines and/or suspensions depending on video evidence, if any, or eye witness accounts of the incident which happened during the 30th birthday of 5-time league MVP June Mar Fajardo. Nabong was celebrating his 31st as well.

“Titignan natin kung meron video ng incident pati na rin yung explanation ng San Miguel,” said the amiable league executive.

An unnamed SMB official earlier confirmed that a fight broke out during scrimmage and it initially involved Santos and Wells. Tubid came to the defense of Santos while Nabong took the side of Wells.

The Beermen are currently on a 10-day break and will return to action on Wednesday, November 20 against TNT. A win over the KaTropa will give the Grand Slam-seeking squad a place in the top 4 and along with it a twice-to-beat incentive in the quarterfinals. A loss, on the other hand, will make things a little bit more complicated.

It is still unclear whether the team will parade Wells for their last elimination round game or stick with John Holland who had a forgettable debut during the team’s loss to Rain or Shine.
