Rookie Daniel de Guzman signs one-year contract with San Miguel

San Miguel added another rookie to its roster following the signing of Daniel de Guzman.
The 29-year old De Guzman, who was taken by the Beermen with the 42nd overall pick in the recent rookie draft, was inked by the Philippine Cup defending champs to a one-year deal.
The former MPBL player for the Paranaque Patriots, however, would most likely be relegated to the reserved list since the team has already finalized its active roster for the upcoming conference.
The Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology product will be the team’s second incoming freshman after Wendell Comboy, who was originally drafted by the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters in the second round, was similarly signed to a one-year contract.
Aside from the two rookies, other new faces for the Beermen are free agents Gelo Alolino and Bam Gamalinda, and Russel Escoto who was acquired earlier this year from the NorthPort Batang Pier in exchange for Kelly Nabong.
Big man Yancy de Ocampo has opted to retire while Ronald Tubid has been dropped to the unrestricted free agent list.
