Brgy. Ginebra def San Miguel, 97-96 [Season 47 Commissioner’s Cup | November 6, 2022]

Titleholder San Miguel and Barangay Ginebra both have gathered some steam and ride the momentum of two-game rolls as they slug it out in a Sunday setto at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

One team will gain some more ground in the playoff race while the other gets stuck somewhere in the middle of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup elims leaderboard as the Beermen and the Gin Kings clash at 6:45 p.m.

The Kings are currently a game ahead at 4-2 but the Beermen (3-3) will force a logjam in case they’re the ones that will be able to extend their run.

Coach Tim Cone and his troops, however, are as much determined to roll on in a bid to stay right there with the frontrunners in the fight for the twice-to-beat bonus in the quarterfinals.

Before Sunday’s games, the Magnolia Hotshots are back as pacesetters at 5-1, followed by the Bay Area Dragons (6-2), the Converge FiberXers (5-2) then the Gin Kings (4-2).

The Kings made the Top Four at the halfway point of their elims slate following back-to-back wins over the Hotshots (103-97) and the Terrafirma Dyip (111-90).

From a shaky conference start, the Beermen have had their own improvement, and are thus standing on better ground now also with successive wins in their last two outings.
