Eastern def San Miguel, 99-91 [PBA S49 Comm’s Cup | Dec. 22, 2024]

San Miguel aims to maintain its momentum under the guidance of returning coach Leo Austria, targeting a third consecutive victory as they face Eastern in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig this Sunday.

With a perfect 2-0 record under Austria and import Torren Jones, the Beermen are eager to continue their winning streak and reach the .500 mark as they challenge the Hong Kong-based squad in the 7:30 p.m. matchup, which marks one of the final playdates of the league in 2024.

June Mar Fajardo shone brightly, delivering 27 points, 22 rebounds, and six assists, igniting the Beermen in a commanding 115-102 victory over Blackwater on Friday.

In their prior contest, the eight-time MVP amassed 21 points, 19 rebounds, and seven assists, leading the charge to secure Austria’s triumphant return to head coaching with a decisive 106-88 win against Terrafirma.

Also making waves was Jones, who contributed 29 points and 14 rebounds in his second outing, stepping in for SMB’s initial reinforcement, Quincy Miller.

As Jones and the Beermen strive to improve to 3-3, they prepare to clash with an Eastern team that recently endured a 113-120 defeat at the hands of the NorthPort Batang Pier.

Arvin Tolentino and Kadeem Jack both delivered impressive performances, each netting 30 points for a combined total of 73, helping NorthPort rebound swiftly from their first loss of the conference and dealing Eastern its second setback in seven starts.
