San Miguel def TNT, 111-74 [PBA on Tour | July 7, 2023]
San Miguel’s reserves completely outduelled their TNT Tropang Giga counterparts and snapped a five-game losing skein with a lopsided 111-74 win in the PBA on Tour at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig Friday night.
With a deeper rotation against an eight-man TNT crew, the Beermen fashioned out a near wire-to-wire triumph to jack up their overall mark to 3-5.
Jericho Cruz and his teammates pummeled TNT in each quarter, logging a biggest run of 19 unanswered points to highlight a ghastly rout that sent the Tropang Giga to a sixth straight loss without a solitary win in the preseason series presented by Arena Plus and sponsored by Bingo Plus.
Marvin Lee topscored for the Beermen with 22 points spiked by five three-pointers while Cruz and Allyn Bulanadi contributed 20 points each.
Rodney Brondial, enjoying much exposure in the absence of June Mar Fajardo, collected double-double numbers with 17 points and 13 rebounds.
Together, the Beermen asserted themselves against the TNT team which became a lot more depleted with Glenn Khobuntin also being rested.
Minus Jayson Castro, Mikee Williams, RR Pogoy, Kelly Wiiliams and Khobuntin, the Tropang Giga were reduced to a pitiful eight-man team led by Jaydee Tungcab with a 30-point explosion.
