Streaking teams San Miguel, NorthPort collide

An undermanned San Miguel squad will take on a streaking NorthPort quintet in the PBA Season 48 Commissioner’s Cup on Friday, December 8, at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

The game is scheduled at 8:00pm.

Unfortunately, the Beermen will be without the services of June Mar Fajardo, the league’s one and only seven-time Most Valuable Player, due to a fractured left hand.

According to doctors, he is expected to be sidelined for a period of four to six weeks.

The 34-year-old Cebuano has been extremely impressive in the team’s first four games, showcasing MVP-like statistics of 19.3 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 3.0 assists.

Unfortunately, Fajardo is now out temporarily alongside Jeron Teng is also on the injured list due to a hamstring injury. Additionally, Terrence Romeo, a three-time PBA scoring champion, is currently listed as day to day as he recovers from a bone contusion.

Nevertheless, the Beermen still possess a formidable lineup with CJ Perez, Marcio Lassiter, and Chris Ross leading the way among the local players. These three players were also part of the PBA Season 47 Mythical First team.

Furthermore, the Beermen have benefitted from the solid performance of import Ivan Aska, who has been a reliable presence inside the court, averaging 26.3 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game.

The Beermen have emerged victorious in three consecutive matches after starting the season with an overtime defeat against the NLEX Road Warriors. They are now set to take on the Batang Pier, who have been victorious in their last two games and hold a 4-2 win-loss record.
