San Miguel star center June Mar Fajardo’s road to a healthy 2021 PBA season began even before the Beermen saw their dynastic Philippine Cup reign come to an end last week.

The 6-foot-10 Fajardo, who celebrated his 31st birthday on Tuesday, said lately he has been doing individual gym workouts and court exercises.

“Been working out already for over a month now. On [Mondays-Wednesdays-Fridays], I do workouts on the court and then [Tuesdays-Thursdays] I’m at the weights room at San Miguel (the head office in Ortigas),” Fajardo told ESPN5.

Having missed the entire 2020 PBA Philippine Cup bubble after fracturing his tibia in his right leg, the six-time league Most Valuable Player said he’s slowly feeling his way back on the court.

“I’m trying to work on my balance since I’ve been out of the court for a long time,” added Fajardo, who focused on leg raises, knee, chest and lateral movements last week.

Boycie Zamar, one of San Miguel’s assistant coaches, has been assisting Fajardo, along with one of the Beermen’s physiotherapists.

“I’m basically there to monitor June Mar’s progress on the court, work on his shooting,” Zamar said. “But his rehab also continues with the help of our team PTs.”
