Terrence Romeo out for 6 to 8 weeks due to dislocated shoulder

Already without main man June Far Fajardo, San Miguel suffered another major blow in its bid to annex the Philippine Cup for the 6th straight time after shooting guard Terrence Romeo came down with a dislocated shoulder during the team’s game against the TNT Tropang Giga, Friday at the Angeles University Foundation Sports Arena and Cultural Center in Angeles City, Pampanga.

The 28-year old Romeo had a collision with Ryan Reyes during the second quarter and was immediately rushed to the nearby Medical City Clark for examination.

Initial diagnosis by team physical therapist Edward Bacason is that the former PBA scoring champion sustained a dislocated shoulder.

“He’s out for six to eight weeks. I talked to him last night and the doctor told him na six to eight weeks yung healing time,” confirmed head coach Leo Austria the morning after the Beermen absorbed their second straight defeat inside the PBA bubble.

“I think hindi siya magpapa-opera dahil ang operation naman is to shorten the (healing) process. But he opted for natural healing,” he added.

Romeo is scheduled to meet with Dr. George Canlas today to determine the official findings and the next course of action.

It remains to be seen if the flashy guard will stay inside the bubble during the recovery period since the compressed All-Filipino Cup won’t take more than 2 months to finish.
