WATCH: Arwind Santos shares his experience inside the PBA bubble!
San Miguel bucked a slow start and flirted with disaster before eventually disposing of a stubborn Blackwater side in overtime, 90-88, Tuesday in the 2020 PBA Philippine Cup restart at the Angeles University Foundation Sports Arena and Cultural Center in Angeles City, Pampanga.
Mo Tautuaa paced the Beermen anew with 26 points to go along with 14 boards as well as another Best Player of the Game citation as the defending champs improved to 5-2 with their 4th win in a row and moved closer to securing a spot in the quarterfinal round.
“It’s an ugly game but as long as we’re winning, there’s no problem with it. It’s really hard to play a morning game, the players’ body clock hasn’t adjusted yet. So we’re fortunate we’re able to win this game. We’re lucky the Hail Mary shot of Tolomia didn’t go in,” said head coach Leo Austria.
“I give credit to the players, even though it’s hard for them to wake up earlier and play a (morning) game, they showed their commitment and we’re able to pull this one through. I extended the minutes of my (key) players because this game was important, it will bring us closer to the playoffs,” he added.
Marcio Lassiter added 12 points while Alex Cabagnot and Von Pessumal chipped in 11 and 10 markers, respectively.
The Beermen get a breather on Wednesday and return to action against Phoenix Super LPG on Thursday, November 5.
