Depending on the ruling of the Inter-Agency Task Force, PBA teams may start gym workout sessions – perhaps by small batches – at the end of the third quarantine extension in Metro Manila on May 31.
This as the Metro Manila Council, consisting of 16 cities and one municipality, is reportedly leaning towards recommending the downgrade of the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) to general community quarantine (GCQ) in the National Capital Region.
Under GCQ, some sporting events are allowed.
“Mass gatherings such as, but not limited to, movie screenings, concerts, sporting events, and other entertainment activities, community assemblies and non-essential work gatherings shall be allowed provided that participants shall be limited to 50-percent of the venue or seating capacity,” according to IATF’s latest guidelines.
This should be music to the ears of PBA officials, who are hoping PBA teams to resume some training activities soon.
