The Philippine Basketball Association has once again linked up with Dr. Raul Canlas to help the league supervise the health standards and protocols run in the respective practice sessions of the 12 PBA ball clubs.

Canlas, a renowned orthopedic surgeon who’s the only Asian member in the FIBA Medical Commission, is chairing the medical committee put up by the PBA for the closed-circuit non-scrimmage trainings with an end goal of a PBA play resumption by October.

“The medical committee will be the center of information when it comes to the health and wellness of our players in this training during this period,” said PBA chairman Ricky Vargas in the PSA Forum online Tuesday.

“Dr. Canlas wants it to be a committee, and Deputy Commissioner Eric Castro and I are part of it,” said PBA commissioner Willie Marcial.

The medical team and the entire PBA organization, including the players themselves, will be guided by the guidelines and protocols the league itself crafted and later approved by the government’s Inter-Agency Task Force.

The league commissioner said the protocols should be strictly followed, with violators to face stiff sanctions.
