WATCH: Interview with Best Player June Mar Fajardo and Coach Jorge Gallent [May 15, 2024]

San Miguel vs Terrafirma QF Game 2 | PBA Season 48 Philippine Cup

June Mar Fajardo delivered a standout performance to prevent San Miguel from suffering an upset for the second consecutive game.

In a dominant display, Fajardo recorded an impressive double-double with 25 points and 22 rebounds, leading the Beermen to a 110-91 victory over the Terrafirma Dyip on Wednesday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium, securing their spot in the PBA Philippine Cup semifinals.

Terrence Romeo provided a significant contribution off the bench with a conference-high 19 points, while CJ Perez and Don Trollano each added 18 points, and Jericho Cruz contributed 11 points.

Despite the team’s loss in the first match of the quarterfinals, the Beermen bounced back with a stellar performance, with Fajardo leading the charge.

Fajardo’s remarkable second-half performance, where he scored 21 points, including 10 in the third quarter, was crucial in breaking the game open.

With Fajardo’s dominant play and support from his teammates, coach Jorge Gallent’s squad built a commanding 96-76 lead, leaving little doubt about the outcome of the game.

Terrafirma’s key players, Juami Tiongson and Stephen Holt, were limited to 18 points each after a strong showing in the previous game. Isaac Go, who scored 22 points in Game 1, was held to just seven points, while Javi Gomez de Liano led the Dyip with 23 points, most of which came in garbage time.

The Dyip’s struggles from beyond the arc, shooting only 11-of-36 and 1-of-8 in the third quarter, played into San Miguel’s hands and aided in their decisive victory.

With their spot in the semifinals secured, the defending champions now await the winner of the TNT-Rain or Shine matchup to determine their next opponent in the best-of-seven series starting Friday.
