WATCH: Interview with Coach Leo Austria [San Miguel vs Meralco | 2021 Govs’ Cup | March 5, 2022]

Meralco and San Miguel both shoot for win No. 7 and a crack at the Top Four as they face off in a weekend big game in the PBA Governors’ Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Tip-off is at 6:30 p.m. in a virtual playoff match for a spot in the upper half of the Magic Eight that rewards a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals.

San Miguel rides the momentum of a 104-100 bounceback win over Rain or Shine Thursday while Meralco is perked up by a desire and determination to arrest back-to-back losses.

“Meron na kaming tsansa pumasok. Yung sa Top Four, we don’t know yet. But we’ll prepare hard for our last game as we prepare for the playoffs,” said coach Leo Austria whose chargers go for a closing 7-4 win-loss card in the single-round-robin elims.

The Bolts ache to get back on track after successive losses to the Alaska Mlk Aces (94-93) and the Magnolia Hotshots (88-85) that sent them down to fourth place at 6-3.

After a 4-0 start, coach Norman Black and his crew staggered with three setbacks in all in their last five outings. At least, their last two losses could have both gone the other way, with the Bolts barely lacking the finishing kick.

The Beermen just won’t be denied the last time out against the Elasto Painters.
