WATCH: June Mar Fajardo on Extra Rice with Beau Belga!
The extended break brought about by the coronavirus pandemic has given June Mar Fajardo more time to recover from a fractured right tibia.
The newly-crowned 6-time PBA Most Valuable Player underwent surgery last February 4 and has already been ruled out by team management for the duration of the league’s 45th season.
The SMB main man attended the awarding ceremonies last March 8 and accepted his latest career achievement on a mobility scooter. He disclosed that he is already capable of walking on his own and is currently working on his upper body conditioning.
“OK naman, so far maganda naman `yung healing. Ngayon nakakalakad na ako, kaya sana tuluy-tuloy na,” said Fajardo.
“Sa lower body hindi pa ako puwede, pero sa upper nakaka-workout na ako. May mga gamit naman ako dito sa bahay, may dumbbells and pang-squat ako. Saktong pang home gym lang talaga, pangbahay na workout lang,” added the 6-foot-10 Cebuano.
Despite the positive development, San Miguel coach Leo Austria is not counting on “The Kraken” to return to action if and when the league finally resumes play.
“Makikita naman natin na yung improvement niya is right on track. But I think next season na siya talaga makakalaro dahil 10-12 months ang binigay sa kanyang rest time bago siya makabalik sa dati niyang health,” stressed the 8-time PBA champion mentor.
