June Mar Fajardo is expected to play for San Miguel in the 46th season of the PBA which is scheduled to kick-off on April 9.

The 31-year old Cebuano suffered a complete fracture on his right tibia during team practice last February 3 and underwent surgery the very next day.

No less than SMC sports director Alfrancis Chua broke the development which comes as a belated Christmas gift to the team’s followers.

“He’s okay. We’re expecting him to play next conference or this season. So far, okay siya,” said Chua.

“Doc (George) Canlas said may go signal na siya to play,” he added.

Fajardo missed the entire 2020 Philippine Cup since the shin injury has not completely healed. Without their main man, the defending champion Beermen stumbled out of contention in the bubble season after being eliminated in the quarterfinal round by the Meralco Bolts.

Chua claimed that it would’ve ended differently had the 6-time PBA Most Valuable Player been there to anchor the team’s title defense.

‘Iba siguro pag andun si June Mar. Mabigat kung andun si June Mar,” said Chua. “Mag-iiba siguro talaga kung ang nakalaban San Miguel dahil doon sa tinatawag na match-up sa malalaki.”

“Kasi si Japeth (Aguilar) and (Prince) Caperal mahihirapan. Again, siguro talaga lang nakalinya sa Ginebra na manalo ng conference sa bubble. Ika nga, nakalusot tayo,” added Chua who is concurrently the Gin Kings’ governor.
