WATCH: PBA Kamustahan – Episode 5 Part 3
Every player has a Michael Jordan moment or that time when one is left out or cut in a team in high school or in college.
Olsen Racela, the retired, former San Miguel Beer great, had tons of it.
The now Barangay Ginebra deputy coach admitted being cut several times when he tried out for the high school team of Ateneo, which at one point had the multi-titled Chot Reyes for its coach.
“First tryout ko (sa Ateneo) na-cut ako,” Racela recalled in the latest episode of PBA Kamustahan. “The following year, I came back sa training team. But late addition lang ako, parang saling-pusa lang.”
Of course, Jordan, the retired iconic NBA superstar of the Chicago Bulls, went through the same thing when he was cut in the Laney High School varsity team during his sophomore year. He later used the experience as motivation to be a better player, and subsequently, be considered – arguably – as the greatest of all time.
