San Miguel dodged a tragic 1-3 deficit in the 2021 PBA Philippine Cup semifinals after blowing out TNT, 116-90, Sunday afternoon at the Don Honorio Ventura State University in Bacolor, Pampanga.

The Beermen never trailed in the lopsided contest and led by as many as 37 points in the 3rd quarter.

Mo Tautuaa paced the 27-time PBA champs, who bounced back from a 17-point defeat in Game 3, with 25 points on 77% shooting from the field while Terrence Romeo racked up 16 markers, 4 boards and 4 dimes. Marcio Lassiter and June Mar Fajardo added 13 points apiece.

“Yeah, if you will notice on the past three games namin, Talk ‘N Text we’re always catch up on the situation eh. But what we have is a good start, which was happened tonight. We’re able to get a good start because we’re trying to limit our turnovers,” said SMB coach Leo Austria.

“Our two losses against them is our turnovers. Imagine if you will lose by 29 points off a turnover and 27 points on second chance points. But tonight, I think we have a lot of offensive rebounds and we’re so focus on our defense and that’s the key,” he added.

The Tropang Giga lost Poy Erram in the first half due to a contusion which he sustained after Tautuaa accidentally landed on him during a rebound play.

Jayson Castro topscored for the Chot Reyes-mentored squad with 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting while Glenn Khobuntin tallied 13 points and 2 rebounds. Rookie Mikey Williams had a rough afternoon as he only scored 11 points to go along with 6 turnovers.
