WATCH: Post-game interview with Terrence Romeo and Coach Leo Austria [Oct. 6, 2021]

Marcio Lassiter finished what Terrence Romeo started as San Miguel Beer rallied from 20 points down to steal Game Two of its PBA Philippine Cup best-of-seven semifinal face-off with TNT at the DHVSU Gym in Bacolor, Pampanga Wednesday.

Lassiter was at the right place at the right time, making the winning basket from an offensive rebound in the dying seconds as the Beermen squeaked past the Tropang Giga, 98-96, to send their series back to scratch.

They break the 1-1 tie in Game Three at 6 p.m. Friday in the same venue.

Lassiter earlier made two important free throws before coming through with the dagger basket to preserve the 22-point explosion of Romeo in the second half and the grit and guts shown by the whole team.

“Drained na kami, pero hindi talaga matatawaran ang puso ng mga players namin. It’s pure heart and determination,” said San Miguel coach Leo Austria.

“Yun yung character ng team; kahit anong sitwasyon, hindi bumibitiw,” said Romeo, the major sparkplug in San Miguel’s fightback from 20 down in the third period.

Romeo shook off a struggle from a recent injury, going 10-of-22 from the field and also getting away with four rebounds and three assists in 27 minutes of action off the bench.

“Medyo up and down ako galing sa dalawang injuries this conference. I’m trying to maintain kung ano ang pwedeng gawin, and thank God, unti-unting bumabalik (ang laro ko),” said Romeo.
