The stage is set for a blockbuster Final Four.
It’s a pair of mouthwatering matchups, featuring the Manila Clasico rivals on one side and a gigantic showdown between titleholder San Miguel Beer and dominant guest team Bay Area on the other.
The Beermen completed the cast on a 120-107 disposal of the Converge FiberXers, after the Barangay Ginebra Kings swept past the NorthPort Batang Pier, 99-93, in their own quarters dispute Saturday at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.
A night earlier, twice-to-beat top seeds Bay Area and Magnolia took one game to eliminate No. 8 Rain or Shine and No. 7 Phoenix Super LPG, respectively.
And thus the best-of-five semis among the heavyweights are set.
The Beermen and the Dragons start their dispute at 3 p.m. Wednesday also at the PhilSports Arena, to be followed by the 5:45 p.m. Game One in the Ginebra-Magnolia series.
Devon Scott (20 points and 14 rebounds) and June Mar Fajardo (18 and 18 plus seven assists) put in double-double games while Terrence Romeo sizzled with five triples in a team-high 22 markers as the Beermen advanced to the next stage of a title-retention drive.
