WATCH: San Miguel vs Meralco WILD FINISH [Finals Game 2 | PBA S48 PH Cup | June 7, 2024]

It would take a lot to beat San Miguel Beer two in a row, but the Meralco Bolts are determined to even double their Game One effort in a bid to roll to a 2-0 lead in the PBA Philippine Cup Finals.

Though squeezing out a 93-86 win on their gutsy stand in the series opener Wednesday, the Bolts remain the underdogs.

But coach Luigi Trillo and his Bolts could well sway the odds on their side if they will be able to sustain the fire of their Game One win and score a repeat in Game Two set to fire off at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Needless to say, it would be a gargantuan task.

The Beermen enjoyed the lead most of the time Wednesday, taking a seven-point spread into the halftime break, and were still in command at the start of the fourth.

But then came the Bolts’ 9-3 opening punch in the payoff period and an even stronger assault to cap off a triumphant effort in their very first outing in All-Filipino finals.

Chris Newsome and his teammates are now looking to keep their efficiency in execution, their willingness to fight for 50-50 balls and indomitable spirit to withstand an expected tough San Miguel Beer fightback.
