WATCH: San Miguel vs Terrafirma Game Highlights [PBA S47 Govs’ Cup | Feb. 3, 2023]
A tough three-game schedule on its first six days of action may have started to take its toll on San Miguel Beer.
Not for Cameron Clark, who dished out his best scoring performance thus far of 31 points in leading the Beermen over Terrafirma, 122-102, Saturday in the PBA Governors Cup at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
Clark, who went into the game averaging just 21.5 points, added 14 rebounds and four dimes, while assisting in holding down Terrafirma counterpart Jordan Williams, as SMB stretched its unbeaten start to 3-0.
“Perfect,” was how coach Jorge Gallent described how Clark fits his team that started its campaign in the season-ending conference last Jan. 29.
“He does everything for us. He gets the rebounds, he guards the other import, he knows when to shoot the ball, so he’s filling his role perfectly,” added Gallent.
Clark did exactly those things in helping SMB recover from a lethargic start and seize control of the game right in the second quarter and into a lead that went as high as 22 points twice, the last at 71-49.
When Terrafirma threatened to make a game of it by charging back to pull within 77-84, it was Clark who hit back-to-back baskets which enabled the Beermen to get more breathing room, 88-78, going to the final quarter.
