Leo Austria was hardly worried San Miguel ended up winless in a recent four-team pocket tournament as the team prepares to defend its PBA Philippine Cup title in the most trying circumstances.
The champion coach welcomed the three losses the Beermen suffered at the hands of NLEX, Phoenix, and Alaska as it exactly gauged where the team is without its bread-and-butter in June Mar Fajardo.
The Beermen were the only winless team following the tournament which the Road Warriors topped following a three-game sweep.
“We have two weeks to regroup after the tournament, and we saw naman how these teams were competitive,” said Austria.
“The only good thing is it’s not counted (the losses) on the actual games,” he added. “We definitely learned a lot from this (tournament) and we know where we are right now going to the all-Filipino.”
