Willie Marcial on San Miguel sanction on feuding players: “Okay na ako sa pinataw nila”

PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial is already satisfied with the sanction levied by officials of the San Miguel Beermen on its three feuding players.
Arwind Santos, Ronald Tubid and Kelly Nabong were each slapped with an indefinite suspension after figuring in a scuffle during team practice last November 17 at the Upper Deck gym in Pasig City. Dez Wells was also part of the commotion but the high-scoring import has already left the country two days after the unfortunate incident.
“Okay na ako sa pinataw ng San Miguel,” said Marcial on Wednesday.
The league had earlier stated that additional sanctions may be imposed on the players if there was still a need to do so. The indefinite suspension, however, was deemed appropriate enough given the nature of the offense.
With Wells gone, replacement import John Holland suited up for the Beermen during the team’s crucial game against TNT, Wednesday night at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
Despite Holland playing a much better game compared to his debut performance against Rain or Shine in Lapu-Lapu City, the absence of Santos and even Nabong proved too much to overcome as the 2019 Philippine and Commissioner’s Cup champions bowed to the KaTropa, 109-114, to slide down to 5th place going into the quarterfinal round of the season-ending conference.
