Meralco def San Miguel, 92-88 [Finals Game 5 | PBA S48 PH Cup | June 14, 2024]

Surpassing the 100-point milestone for the first time on Wednesday night, San Miguel is now looking to elevate their game even further. Meralco, on the other hand, is gearing up for a challenging and intense matchup, showing resilience despite losing the series lead.

Both teams are committed to giving it their all and leaving everything on the court as they battle for the pivotal 3-2 lead in the PBA Philippine Cup best-of-seven title playoff at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Following their convincing 111-101 victory in Game Four, the Beermen are determined to continue their momentum and push forward towards the championship.

Despite the odds being heavily in favor of San Miguel after their dominant performance in the last game, Meralco remains unfazed. They believe they are still very much in the fight and capable of pulling off an upset against their formidable opponents.

San Miguel remains focused on maintaining their aggressive style of play that was on full display on Wednesday night. Coach Jorge Gallent’s decision to reintroduce Terrence Romeo and Vic Manuel into the rotation paid off, as both players made significant contributions to the team’s offensive onslaught that overwhelmed Meralco’s defense.

“We talked about trusting one another and sharing the ball. If we do that, our offense will come,” said Gallent.

“And it showed in Game 4. We had 111 (points), this is the highest output in this series. So it’s just the mindset of these players to trust one another and to share the ball. That’s the philosophy,” he added.
