San Miguel def Meralco, 94-86 [PBA S47 Govs’ Cup | Feb. 9, 2023]

Though held 16 points below their average output, the San Miguel Beermen stayed perfect for a fifth straight game under coach Jorge Gallent.

The Beermen held their ground in a defensive battle versus the Meralco Bolts and hacked out a 94-86 win in the PBA Governors’ Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum last night.

Offensively, Cameron Clark, CJ Perez and June Mar Fajardo led the way, each one firing clutch baskets to highlight their 48-point combined production.

Clark scored 28 points and got 12 rebounds, Fajardo had his own double-double game with 14 boards and 11 markers while Perez sizzled with 19 points.

“Ang inisip ko lang di ako titigil hanggang kita ko yung daan papunta sa basket,” said Perez of his aggressive game also marked by 6-of-12 field goals, five rebounds, two assists and the same number of steals.

Jericho Cruz, Simon Enciso and Marcio Lassiter had significant help as the team preserved Gallent’s clean mark as head coach in the pros.

Gallent said it’s more about the players’ chemistry, cooperation and readiness to play with each other and for each other.
