Brgy. Ginebra def San Miguel, 102-99 [PBA S49 Govs’ Cup SF Game 6 | Oct. 20, 2024]

Brgy. Ginebra aims to deliver the knockout blow against San Miguel as both teams clash in Game 6 of their PBA Season 49 Governors’ Cup semifinal series this Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Gin Kings have seized the series lead, now at 3-2, following a commanding 121-92 victory over the Beermen in Game 5, showcasing a potent blend of offensive firepower and relentless defense.

With a spot in the Finals just one win away, Ginebra will be determined to secure the series in their sole 7:30 p.m. encounter.

Tim Cone acknowledged that Ginebra’s 131-121 defeat in Game 4 stemmed from a breakdown in communication on the floor.

The seasoned mentor recognized that merely attempting to outscore the Beermen could lead to failure, as it strays from Ginebra’s strengths.

Cone is aware that the Beermen possess the potential to mount a fierce comeback on Sunday, which is why he continues to stress the importance of solid defense and adherence to their strategic game plan.

As always, star import Justin Brownlee will spearhead Ginebra’s efforts for a return to the Finals, supported by Scottie Thompson, Japeth Aguilar, and rookie guard RJ Abarrientos, who shone with 28 points in the Game 5 triumph.

However, Ginebra must also focus on containing SMB’s EJ Anosike, along with the formidable duo of eight-time league Most Valuable Player June Mar Fajardo and CJ Perez, both expected to come out firing in their bid to force a decisive Game 7.
