WATCH: Pre-practice vibes by Alex Cabagnot!

Six-time PBA Most Valuable Player June Mar Fajardo and three-time PBA Scoring Champion Terrence Romeo are ready to rejoin the rest of the San Miguel Beermen for the upcoming PBA season which tips-off on July 16 at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

The Beermen, All-Filipino Cup champs from 2014 to 2019, are raring to regain the crown they lost to Brgy. Ginebra San Miguel last year inside the PBA bubble in Clark, Pampanga.

“June Mar is ready to go,” said team manager Gee Abanilla during a telephone interview with PBA Rush.

“Of course, he’s not yet 100-percent, but he has joined the team’s 5-on-5 practices and looks good,” he added.

The 6-foot-10 Cebuano completely missed the “Bubble Season” due to a fractured tibia but has since recovered and has been cleared to join the team’s scrimmages.

Romeo, who just like Fajardo was in sickbay last season due to an injured shoulder, is also looking forward to his own comeback. Without the two, the Beermen struggled in the elimination round and was eventually dethroned by the Meralco Bolts after absorbing back-to-back losses in the quarterfinal round.

With the duo’s impending return coupled by the addition of CJ Perez, the league’s scoring king for the past two seasons, the Beermen have been installed as heavy favorites in the Philippine Cup. Abanilla, however, believes otherwise.

“Teams were able to build up in the off season with key acquisitions both in the draft and via trades. The recent draft was touted as probably the deepest in years and a lot of teams have improved.”
