Beermen clobber Dyip for third straight win

San Miguel continued with its winning ways, this time manhandling a hapless Terrafirma side, 122-102, Friday in the PBA Season 47 Governors’ Cup at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.

The victory enabled the Beermen to remain unbeaten after three games while the Dyip fell to their second defeat in three outings. The league’s winningest franchise now has an average winning margin of 20 points after starting the season-ending conference with a 21-point rout of Phoenix followed by a 19-point spanking of Blackwater.

SMB import Cameron Clark paced the Jorge Gallent-mentored squad with 31 points in 37 minutes of action. The former NLEX reinforcement also contributed 14 rebounds, 4 assists, a steal and 3 blocks.

“That’s always gonna happen. We’re not invincible. They started strong and we started flat. But the best thing about it is after three or four minutes, we just woke up,” said Gallent during the post-game presser.

“Maybe we’re just playing as a unit. I always tell the team to play as one, to share the ball,” he added.

CJ Perez led the local charge with a double-double output of 20 points and 11 boards to go with 6 assists, a steal and a block. Moala Tautuaa added 17 points and 8 rebounds while new recruit Allyn Bulanadi and Marcio Lassiter chipped in 14 and 12 markers, respectively.

Jericho Cruz, who was ejected during the closing seconds of the 3rd quarter due to two technical fouls, finished with 9 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists.

The Beermen will play their 4th game in 7 days on Sunday, February 5, 4:30pm and will clash with the winless Magnolia Hotshots at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
