NLEX def San Miguel, 104-99 [PBA S49 Comm’s Cup | Dec. 8, 2024]

NLEX aims to secure its third consecutive victory, while San Miguel looks to build on a successful debut as they clash in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo this Sunday.

The Road Warriors have found their rhythm, driven by the impressive performance of import Mike Watkins, who has stepped up significantly, and Robert Bolick, who is hitting his stride after a lukewarm first outing. NLEX notched back-to-back wins, first overwhelming the Blackwater Bossing with a 107-95 triumph, followed by a commanding 104-85 victory over the Terrafirma Dyip.

On the other hand, the Beermen showcased grit in their last game, rallying to secure a thrilling 107-104 victory against the Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters, thanks in large part to a clutch shot from Marcio Lassiter in the closing moments.

These two teams will face off in a highly anticipated 7:30 p.m. matchup at Ynares, with both squads eager to add another “W” to their records and stay hot on the heels of early leader NorthPort (3-0).

Lassiter was instrumental in San Miguel’s comeback against Phoenix, leading a decisive 36-24 run to close out the game, marking an emphatic start to their season after reconfiguring their lineup with the additions of Juami Tiongson and Andreas Cahilig in exchange for Terrence Romeo and Vic Manuel.

NLEX has exhibited dominance, thanks in part to their import asserting himself in the paint and making a noticeable impact.

Bolick has been the standout performer among the locals, exploding for 32 points, including a perfect 2-of-2 from the four-point arc and an impressive overall shooting percentage of 78.6% (11-of-14), while also dishing out five assists in another Player of the Game-worthy performance.
