Vic Manuel, Allyn Bulanadi, 8 other PBA players fined total of ₱590K for playing in ‘ligang labas’

PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial cracked the whip on 10 players who played in unsanctioned tournaments without the league’s consent.

A total of ₱590,000 in fines were slapped with Magnolia’s Jio Jalalon receiving the biggest penalty of ₱100,000 as this was the 30-year old playmaker’s second offense of the same nature. He has been fined and suspended separately by the Hotshots.

Rain or Shine’s Beau Belga and NLEX’s JR Quinahan, who were both with Jalalon during the fight-marred match in Cebu, were fined ₱50,000 each plus an additional ₱20,000 each for their roles in the melee.

Belga, along with teammate Rey Nambatac, were also fined and suspended by Rain or Shine management.

Nambatac, Rain or Shine teammate Jhonard Clarito, Vic Manuel and Allyn Bulanadi of San Miguel, Alec Stockton and Barkley Ebona of Converge and Arwind Santos of NorthPort were fined ₱50,000 each.

Marcial informed the players of their fines after meeting with them.

With the exception of Nambatac and Santos who had prior family commitments but were able to talk to the commissioner over the phone, all the players involved appeared at the league office in Libis, Quezon City.

Marcial reminded the players of their responsibilities to their mother teams and warned them that repetition of the same offense will come with a much higher price.
