WATCH: “Marami pa akong goals sa PBA!”
San Miguel main man June Mar Fajardo is still undergoing rehab after suffering a complete fracture on his right tibia during team practice last February 3.
The 30-year old, 6-time PBA Most Valuable Player underwent surgery the very next day and has been ruled out by team management for the duration of the league’s 45th season.
Fajardo, however, is recovering ahead of schedule which is seen as a very good development for the reigning five-peat Philippine Cup champions.
“He’s recovering ahead of schedule,” claimed team manager Gee Abanilla who, at the same time, added that they won’t be risking Fajardo if and when the league pushes through with the planned restart of the 2020 Philippine Cup in October.
“Huwag nating ipilit ngayong season. Out pa rin talaga siya,” he said.
Head coach Leo Austria, on the other hand, is pleased with the current condition of his superstar center but similarly insists he won’t be seeing action anytime soon.
“He’s in high spirits and doing well with his rehab,” said the 8-time PBA champion mentor. “He’s still out for the season. We just want to preserve him in the future, but not this season”.
